Abington Journal correspondent Ben Freda receives an official proclamation from Clarks Summit Borough Council President Gerri Carey.

Clarks Summit Borough Council President Gerrie Carey presented the following proclamation to Abington Journal correspondent Ben Freda during a recent borough council meeting.

“To one and all, Germaine Carey, Clarks Summit Borough President, announces a proclamation honoring Ben Freda and declaring this day March 26th, as ‘Ben Freda Day’ in the Borough of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania.

“Ben has been living in Scranton, Pa., since the age of one. After graduating in 2006 from Marywood University with a degree in communication arts, he started writing for The Abington Journal, eventually becoming a photographer as well.

“While working for the Abington Journal, Ben’s articles and photos were featured in other publications such as the Dallas Post, The Weekender, the Sunday Dispatch, Go Lackawanna, and The Villager. In 2015, he also became a contributor for Happenings Magazine.

“For many years, Ben has always enjoyed covering community events, council meetings, graduations and vacation Bible schools; he has built many friendships in the community. Ben is also active with his church family at The Hillside Haven Community Church.

“Myrtle Beach, South Carolina will become Ben’s new home, where he will continue writing articles for the Abington Journal as he forages ahead in his new endeavors.

“So, being of sound mind and in full witness here of, I officially declare it “Ben Freda Day” in the Borough of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania.”
