
The Rotary Club of the Abingtons will sponsor its inaugural 5K fundraiser to enhance its Charitable Trust Fund, which has supported Abington community projects for decades. DALTON — The Rotary Club of the Abingtons will sponsor its first-ever Rotary 5K Run at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 24, on the Trolley Trail. Runners and walkers will meet at the Church of the Epiphany, Glenburn.
The race will be three miles and the walk one-and-a-half miles. It will end back at the church.
Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers, as well as the top three males and females in each age group.
Registration with packet pickup will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 23, at Brown’s Gym in Clarks Summit. The fee is $25 for runners and $15 for walkers. Registration with packet pickup on the day of the event will be available from 8 to 8:45 a.m. with a fee of $30 for runners and $20 for walkers.
Proceeds will benefit the club’s Charitable Trust.
Vice president Chris Loftus suggested this event after last year’s successful Maintain the Line 5K.
The Rotary 5K will replace the Taste of the Abingtons as the club’s main fundraiser.
