Lounge of the Abingtons opens in Clarks Summit
CLARKS SUMMIT — Formerly known as Summit Cigar Lounge & Bar, the restaurant on 215 Clark Ave. has a new name to go with its new renovations and family-friendly vibes. Since April 27, this dining establishment is now called The Lounge of the Abingtons. Taking away the humidor and cigar lockers, owner Mark Toth made the place a smoke-free environment catered for all ages. He changed the name to cater to other towns in the Abingtons besides Clarks Summit.
“The main thing is that to cater to all the people in the Abingtons,” he said. “And if people want to come from outside the Abingtons, they can come, too.”
That’s not all, renovations have been made. The hardwood floors and tiles have been refurbished. The walls have been painted. Lighting has been added. The patio outside has twelve more seats for customers to enjoy outdoor dining and hanging out with friends.
A new section has also been made to invite all kinds of performers such as bands, comedy acts, illusionists and more.
“Our goal is to have all different types of entertainment every day of the week,” said Mark.
On Saturday, June 7, PA Comedy Troupe (PACT) presents PACT Live from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. On Saturday, June 14, the restaurant will celebrate Summit’s Summer Solstice by opening at noon and performances from two bands. Dirty Souls Trio will perform from 3 to 6 p.m. Destination West will perform from 8 to 11 p.m.
The Lounge has trivia nights on Tuesdays. Blues singer Clarence Spady plays his music every other Wednesday. Entertainment at the Lounge is posted on Facebook and Instagram. The restaurant can be booked for graduation parties.
The Lounge of the Abingtons serves specialty drinks for every season prepared by six bartenders. The drink menu is currently being made for the summer. There is Martini Mondays, in which martinis cost $10 during Happy Hour (5 to 7 p.m.) Whiskey Wednesdays offers $2 off a whiskey drink and $2 off appetizers. The restaurant has a full food menu, which includes specialty sandwiches, paninis, and wing bites. The pizza is made by Basilico’s Pizzeria Restaurant.
Mark enjoys owning The Lounge of the Abingtons. He has seen an increase in attendance since the change of its new atmosphere.
“The big thing is my daughter graduates from Drexel University (on) June 12, and she’s coming back home to help me run it, which is fantastic,” he said.
