August is Family Fun Month at Dalton Community Library.

It is time to celebrate quality moments with our families before the chaos of the school year takes over. As a family, we learn to offer support and encourage other family members to excel, and during that time, we build lasting memories. Stop into the library this month and check out our August monthly display for all ages on this subject. You may find some interesting topics to explore with your loved ones and have an enjoyable time doing it!

It’s been a busy Summer at Dalton Community Library. In just a few days, our Summer Quest Reading Challenge “Color Our World” will be finishing up for the season on Aug. 8. Our six-week Children’s program was very well attended and finished at the end of July.

We had a visit from Bug Man and learned interesting facts about insects. We enjoyed a musical program from members of a real live orchestra. We had a mini-masterpiece craft for young adults and also spent time learning more sign language, just to name a few activities.

On August 7, Dalton Community Library will host a Color My World Zine-Making Workshop, sponsored by Camille Dantone for ages 6-12 at 4 p.m.

Children will create their very own mini-book — called “zine” — using drawing, storytelling and colorful imagination to explore what makes their world unique.

Our Saturday Spotlight book discussion group is still on hiatus until September. Our next meeting will be on Sept. 27 from 10:30 to noon, we will be discussing “11/22/63” by Stephen King.

Our Tuesday Bridge group is growing, and we encourage more people to join us. Please feel free to stop by on a Tuesday morning, even if you are a beginner.

If you are house cleaning or downsizing, please keep us in mind. Our Book and Bake Sale is tentatively scheduled for the third week in October. All donations are greatly appreciated.

August often brings a bittersweet feeling as the summer winds down. Have a safe and enjoyable rest of your summer!
