Do you ever find yourself getting frustrated with the state of affairs surrounding you? If so, you are certainly not alone.

Particularly with the prices of fuel, groceries, and rentals, politics — the list goes on. Former longtime Clarks Summit resident and familiar face working for 19 years on the main drag of South Abington Township’s 6/11 bypass, Christopher Vernon gets it, and he sympathizes with your pain.

“There is far too much stacked against the little guy these days, and a plethora of factors to be angry about,” states Vernon. “We are in a very discouraging era at this time, and, to be completely frank, I’m mad as hell! There is nothing like waiting on your raise at work, then being told your insurance premiums are going up at the same time, so are you really getting a raise? Insert ‘eye roll.’”

The contributing Times Leader and Weekender columnist lets it all out in the open in his upcoming book, “Devils Who Walk Among Us.” The work is a “jaw-dropping piece filled with sharp edges throughout,” according to the four-time best author winner.

The nonfiction tale follows not only Christopher, but Kendall, Telly, and Stella as a united front who demand to walk unafraid as they each bravely face their “devils” and abusers head-on.

“I’ve never been great at playing any card games, besides “Go Fish,” but I sure as heck have mastered the art of calling a spade a spade,” says Vernon.

“Devils Who Walk Among Us” deals with hard-hitting topics like infidelity, workplace bullying, dark family secrets, and addiction, just to name a few.

“If you are someone like me who was used to not being chosen first, then this book may just be your necessary cup of literary tea. I will always stand up to bullies moving forward, and advocate for any true underdog.”
