SCRANTON — Community Concerts at Lackawanna College presents a heavy-hitting 89th season featuring The Wizards of Winter and Morgan James’ Reckless Abandon Tour from December through March. The season will also feature additional artists to be announced at a later date.

Wizards of Winter will open the season at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. Tickets are $42 and $38.

What was once a Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) tribute group has now turned into a musical force of its own design. In 2013, bandleader Scott Kelly became friends with original TSO member Tommy Farese, who introduced him to several other former members. The Wizards and former TSO members decided to join forces and tour together.

The Wizards of Winter’s 2014 self-titled debut album was a holiday prog-rock throwback that simultaneously conveyed optimism and wonderment (“Just Believe”) and metal crunch (“The Journey”).

New York-based soul singer, songwriter, and Broadway chanteuse Morgan James will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, March 31. Tickets are $34 and $28.

James’ full-length debut for Epic Records, “Hunter” boasts personal renditions of Prince’s “Call My Name” (reached Top 15 at Urban AC radio and #1 most added) along with Hall & Oates’ “She’s Gone” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing In The Dark.” Since the album’s release, her music videos have accumulated more than 45 million views.

James toured the United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand with viral sensation Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox.
