FACTORYVILLE — Members of the borough council voted to approve Kevin Howard, who serves as fire chief, as the borough’s new Emergency Management Coordinator during a regular monthly meeting Nov. 8.
Park Development Board Member Sadie Rozenburg announced the borough will host a Christmas Market from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. December 9-10 at Christy Mathewson Park, 179 College Ave.
The event will be a European-style Christmas Market with authentic German cuisine, warm beverages, pictures with Santa, music provided by Keystone College students, and vendors selling unique gifts.
Members of the council plan to look at making revisions to the borough’s permit parking ordinance after residents voiced concerned about not having a space to park near their homes.
“I don’t think the residents should have to suffer,” Council Vice President Bill Edwards said.
Members of the council also approved final payments for work on buildings damaged during an accidental explosion at a Factoryville Borough shed in January.
Members of the council will vote on a 2018 budget of 308,174.00 during the Dec. 13 meeting. According to Borough Manager Mary Ellen Buckbee, no tax increase is proposed.
