Project Re-entry Christmas collection: A Lackawanna County prison ministry. Donations may be dropped off beginning Dec. 1 at 29 New York St., Scranton. Items sought for the men include wrapped candy and cookies. Items sought for the women include white crew socks, all varieties of soap, toothpaste, 12.5 oz bottles of shampoo – Vo5 or Suave only, writing paper, greeting cards, long envelopes, tablets, Suave or Secret deodorants – antiperspirants 2.6 oz, chocolate and hard wrapped candy and cookies. The South Abington Lions Club and Chinchilla Hose Company’s annual Christmas party with Santa, 5 p.m. Dec. 16 at the fire hall on Shady Lane Road in South Abington Township. Open to all area children, age 10 and under, the festivities include light refreshments, a magic show, a balloon artist, a visit by Santa Claus and more. Santa will also present gifts to the children, and a photo of each child with Santa will be available for a nominal fee.
Signing Santa, 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Abington Community Library. Come and meet Santa, who will tell a story in American Sign Language. Refreshments will be served.
