All You Can Eat Breakfast, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. the third Sunday of every month at the Clarks Summit Fire Company No. 1, Inc., 321 Bedford St., Clarks Summit. Cost: $9 for adults and $6 for children 10 and under.

Project Re-entry Christmas collection: A Lackawanna County prison ministry. Donations may be dropped off beginning Dec. 1 at 29 New York St., Scranton. Items sought for the men include wrapped candy and cookies. Items sought for the women include white crew socks, all varieties of soap, toothpaste, 12.5 oz bottles of shampoo – Vo5 or Suave only, writing paper, greeting cards, long envelopes, tablets, Suave or Secret deodorants – antiperspirants 2.6 oz, chocolate and hard wrapped candy and cookies. Items that cannot be accepted include toothbrushes, gum, lollipops, talc powder and lotions. Monetary gifts are welcome. Info: 570-342-3627.

CHILDREN’S & TEENS’ EVENTS

Gingerbread house decorating, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Abington Community Library. Students in grades 5-8 are invited to come decorate their own graham cracker gingerbread houses to take home, plus make homemade poppers. Snacks provided. Info: 570-587-3440.

The South Abington Lions Club and Chinchilla Hose Company’s annual Christmas party with Santa, 5 p.m. Dec. 16 at the fire hall on Shady Lane Road in South Abington Township. Open to all area children, age 10 and under, the festivities include light refreshments, a magic show, a balloon artist, a visit by Santa Claus and more. Santa will also present gifts to the children, and a photo of each child with Santa will be available for a nominal fee.

Signing Santa, 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Abington Community Library. Come and meet Santa, who will tell a story in American Sign Language. Refreshments will be served. Santa Claus will All are welcome. No registration required. Sponsored by the Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children.

Holiday Camp, 9:30 to 11 a.m. Dec. 27, 28 and 29 at the Dietrich Theater. For ages 5-12. Instructors: Amy and Steve Colley. Experience the arts during holiday break, with the opportunity to throw pots on a potter’s wheel, create sculptures and explore drawing and painting. Cost: $35. Info/register: 570-996-1500.

Winter Break Nature Camp, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 27 to 29 at the Lackawanna College Environmental Education Center in Covington Township. For children ages 6-13. Three days of outdoor play and exploration along with fun indoor winter-themed games, activities, crafts and snacks. Space is limited and pre-registration is required prior to Dec. 8. Cost: $135. Watch the Birdy, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 28 at the Lackawanna State Park. A program all about birds and bird watching. After taking a bird walk, each participant will make his or her own bird feeder to take home. Cost: $5 material fee per child. Register: 570-945-7110.

MARKETS, SALES & VENDOR FAIRS

Homemade pierogi sale, 12 to 4 p.m. Dec. 15 at St. John’s Center, Hill Street, Mayfield. Homemade pierogi (deep fried or uncooked, frozen) will be sold. Fried pierogi will be sold on a first come first serve basis. Orders will be taken for frozen, uncooked pierogi. Cost: $7 per dozen. Order deadline: Dec. 11. Orders: 570-876-0730 or 570-876-3576.

Christmas Cookie Walk, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (or until sold out) Dec. 16 at the Clifford United Methodist Church, Main Street, Clifford. Benefits the Clifford Vacation Bible School. Cost: $14 per large container; $7 per small container.

Homemade Bread and Kolachi Sale, 12 to 4 p.m. Dec. 22 at St. John’s Center, Hill Street, Mayfield. Plain and with raisin bread will be sold, along with nut, poppyseed, lekvar and apricot kolachi. The bread will be sold in loaf and round sizes. Cost: $5/loaf, $10/round and $10/kolachi. Orders: call 570-876-0730 or 570-876-3576 by Dec. 19.
