Abington-area high school, college students embark on mission trip to Honduras

S. ABINGTON TWP. — A team of four adults, 17 high school students and three college-age members boarded a plane headed to Honduras on March 9, ready to use their individual talents and abilities to show love to the people there. The mission team from Clarks Summit University will serve for a little over a week, running a Bible program for children, featuring music, puppet skits, crafts, martial arts and various other electives.

The day before departure, team members gathered at Summit Christian Academy (SCA) for a “practice round,” performing some of the songs, skits and demonstrations they plan to offer in Honduras. The SCA first and second-graders sat attentively, clapping, giggling and singing along.

Electric City Shock soccer team representative Drew Randall also attended Thursday’s performance at SCA to present a donation of 19 balls, 16 shirts and 13 pairs of cleats for the mission team to take to Honduras.
