1968 — The Abington Welcome Wagon Newcomers Club held a fashion show with the theme of “An Easter Parade of Fashions.” Mrs. W. Douglass Galloway III was chair of the event and Mrs. John Teevin was co-chair. It was held in the auditorium of Our Lady of Peace.

“Fashions are from Bergs of Scranton and Waverly and the guest commentator will be TV and radio personality, Nancy Dolphin,” read the Journal brief that previewed the show. “Organ music will be furnished by Mr. Frank Savo Jr. and Mr. Jerry Davis.

“The models’ make-up will be furnished through the courtesy of Holiday Cosmetics.”

1978 — The American Cancer Society conducted its annual daffodil sale at the Waverly Community House.

1988 — The Benton Township Cub Scouts held its annual Mardi Gras festival fundraiser at the Benton Elementary School. The festival included face painting, games and more.
