CLARKS SUMMIT — For Women’s History month, The Gathering Place for Community, Arts and Education, 304 S. State St., has scheduled two presentations: “Louisa May Alcott: More than Little Women” and “What’s under the Skirt?” a historical overview of women’s fashions.
Jennifer Ochman, a local historical reenactor, will present a performance of Louisa May Alcott at 7 p.m. March 26. Ochman will bring the author and poet to life, focusing on Alcott’s time as a nurse during the Civil War and her struggles as an author.
Ochman is known throughout NEPA for her historical presentations. She performs at the Annual Dunmore Cemetery with the Dearly Departed Players and has done many historical reenactments for local historical societies.
The program is open to ages 7-99+, and costs $15.
Sarah Piccini will present “What’s under the Skirt?” at noon Wednesday, March 28. This program will focus on the history of women’s fashions from the Civil War to 1920s. She will bring vintage clothing from the Lackawanna County Society collection.
Piccini is the author of “Framing Faith: A Pictorial History of Communities of Faith” and serves as the vice president of the Anthracite Heritage Museum and Iron Furnaces Associates.
The program cost is a donation $5 to be collected at the door.
