CLARKS SUMMIT — Open the Dialogue Part 2: Exploring the Effects of Substance Abuse on Our Families & Our Children is slated for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29 at The Gathering Place, 304 S. State St.
The four-part substance abuse awareness series for caretakers of children in grades 5-12 and beyond kicked off Thursday, March 8 with Part 1: “Facing the Stigma and the Reality of Children’s Substance Abuse.” It will continue Thursdays, April 19, with” Journeys into Recovery: Let’s Be Open” and May 10, with “Moving Forward: Helping You Engage.”
All sessions are free, but tickets are required and may be obtained on The Gathering Place Facebook page or by emailing gatheringplaceCS@gmail.com. Attendance earns people the opportunity to win a large screen TV and a Safer Lock Box.
Part 2 explores the effects of substance abuse on families and children. The evening’s panelists include Scott Constantini, director of behavioral health, The Wright Center; Michael Barrasse, Lackawanna County president judge; Suzanne Jaffe, Bill Dempsey, M.D.; Tom DePietro, Pharm. D.; and Shane Scanlon, J.D.
