CLARKS SUMMIT — Bill Carter, First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit’s resident jazz pianist, invited violinist Mark Woodyatt to join his Presbybop friends for an afternoon of music composed by jazz legend Chick Corea. Third in the 2017-2018 Arts at First Presbyterian concert series, the show will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 8 in the church’s sanctuary, 300 School St.
Drawing on the Latin rhythms of the samba, the concert promises a swinging good time.
Woodyatt was the first-ever jazz violin major at the Eastman School of Music. Carter’s Presbybop Quartet celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2018. Other featured musicians are Tony Marino on bass, Tyler Dempsey on percussion, and Mike Carbone on flute and saxophone.
This event is open to the public, free of charge, but a free-will offering will be taken. The concert series receives support from the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts Program (administered by the Pocono Arts Council), a Lackawanna County Arts and Cultural Grant and numerous individual donors.
