South Abington Township Police Chief Robert A. Gerrity was recently recognized by Lackawanna County Commissioners for fighting crime more than 45 years. Gerrity’s career began in 1973 as a part-time officer in Archbald. In 1978, he was hired in South Abington and became chief in 1991. HE has participated in continuing education and advanced training classes in law enforcement. He is also active in the chiefs of police association on the local and state levels.
