Steve Fisher recognized with PennDOT Star of Excellence Award

DUNMORE — Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Secretary Leslie S. Richards recognized 30 employees for their outstanding performance with the Star of Excellence Award, PennDOT’s highest recognition. Steve Fisher, a planning specialist from District 4 which represents Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming counties, was among the honorees.

Fisher is a Transportation Planning Specialist who oversees the coordination of the regional MPO/RPO Twelve Year Programs for District 4. His extensive planning experience has enabled him to implement the PennDOT Connects Program initiative across the district.

Using his communication and customer service skills, Fisher has coordinated outreach meetings with the MPOs/RPOs and local municipal officials to educate them on the benefits of the PennDOT Connects program.

Individual projects were reviewed with municipalities to obtain any concerns, comments and innovative ideas related to the projects that could be implemented in the design process.

Fisher has promoted the PennDOT Connects program to local governments, enabling them to better seek alternate funding sources, thereby allowing the department to better invest motor license fund into highways and bridge assets.

The Star of Excellence Awards are presented annually to employees who represent the department’s values of service, performance and integrity. The recipients represent a variety of organizational positions, spanning from highway maintenance and driver and vehicle services workers, to traffic control specialists, communications staff and design and engineering specialists.
