NAMI Mental Health Support Group, 6 to 7:30 p.m. the last Tuesday of each month at the Wyoming County Special Needs Association (the log cabin building), 636 Route 29 North, Tunkhannock. Open to people with mental health issues, as well as family members and caregivers.

Opera Trip, The Gathering Place is sponsoring a trip to Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown, NY, to see the Barber of Seville July 31. Cost: $95, which includes bus, lunch and tickets to opera. Call Anne at 570-881-7612 for more information.


Annual Vacation Bible School, 5:30 to 8 p.m. July 9-13 at Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Dr., Clarks Summit. The school is for children in third through sixth grade. A light supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. each night followed by classroom instruction, crafts, music, games, and lots of fun. The theme is “Shipwrecked… Rescued By Jesus. Children’s Day, noon to 3 p.m. July 14 at the Catlin House, 232 Monroe Ave., Scranton. The open house and porch party for kids will feature an archaeological dig, old-fashioned games, pony rides, and arts and crafts. Trinity Lutheran Church Day Camps, “Out of This World” July 30-Aug. 3 and “Under the Sea” Aug. 13-17. Both will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, daily, at the church, 205 W. Grove St., Clarks Summit. Children ages 3-5 years-old are eligible to attend the camps. Cost: $150 per camp week, which includes three hours of daily play, crafts and activities revolving around a central theme each week. Waverly Twp. Comm Square Fair, 5:30 to 8 p.m. July 20 on the back lawn of the Waverly Community House, 1115 North Abington Road. The event will feature ticketed carnival games, a picnic dinner, and music by The Molly Pitcher Path Band.

Flea Market, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. August 4 at Clarks Summit United Methodist Church. Selling space is available for $25 inside and $20 outside. Info: 570-587-2571. All proceeds benefit the church.

An APPRISE counselor will be available to help answer questions about Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans, Medigap plans, Medicare drug plans, PACE/PACENET prescription-drug coverage and various low-income assistance programs, such as the Medicare Savings Program and Extra Help. Scranton City Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution Genealogical Workshop, 10 a.m. Aug. 18 at the Catlin House, 232 Monroe Avenue, Scranton. Any woman, 18 years and older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible. The workshop will provide guidance and assistance with the application process, through the steps of becoming a member, including tracing your family lineage and identifying your Patriot. Cornhole Tournament, 1 p.m. July 8 at the Factoryville Borough-Clinton Township Joint Municipal Park. Cost: $50 per team. Registration deadline: July 6.
