SCRANTON — The Wright Center has been awarded $977,022 to implement a Pennsylvania Coordinated Medication-Assisted Treatment (PacMAT) program designed to increase access to Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. The PacMAT program is funded through $26.5 million in federal resources recently allocated to Pennsylvania through the 21st Century Cures Act.
Under the PacMAT initiative, 10 existing primary care practices in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wyoming, Wayne and Susquehanna counties will engage and collaborate to care for individuals with opioid use disorder using The Wright Center’s established workflow and model. The Wright Center will serve as the hub of the proposed network, sharing best practices to partnering spokes to address unmet treatment needs through prevention, treatment and recovery initiatives.
In late 2016, The Wright Center was designated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an Opioid Use Disorder Center of Excellence (COE). Currently, 13 Wright Center providers are MAT-certified and three physicians are board certified in addiction medicine. Since The Wright Center’s COE program became operational in early 2017, more than 300 individuals have been engaged into treatment.
