The 2018-19 school year is well underway at the Susquehanna County Career & Technology Center (SCCTC). The SCCTC is the main source of career and technical education for all of Susquehanna County and parts of Wyoming County. The center offers numerous educational opportunities to high school students and adults to enable them to become life-long learners, productive citizens, and responsible members of society.
The center’s programs of study currently include: Automotive Technology, Carpentry & Cabinetmaking, Electrical, Plumbing and Heating, Accounting, Cosmetology, Food Management /Production & Services, Health Care Technology, Welding Technology, Vehicle (Small Engine) Maintenance & Repair Technology, Auto Body Collision & Repair Technology, Criminal Justice/ Police Science and Cooperative Education/Diversified Occupations. In addition to these high school programs, which are also available to adults, the center offers Practical Nursing and Massage Therapy to the adult learners along with an extensive list of adult certification course offerings.
The center also offers Automotive Safety Inspection courses; Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting; OSHA training and Welding as well as ServSafe classes for food service employees.
Presently, the SCCTC provides services to students from seven area schools: Blue Ridge, Elk Lake, Lackawanna Trail, Montrose Area, Mountain View, Susquehanna Community and Tunkhannock Area High School.
The center’s restaurant, A Touch of Class, featuring The Serfass Solarium, has a new menu that includes Prime Rib Thursday once a month. Browse under “Community Outreach” for details on menus and restaurant offerings.
The center’s Cosmetology Clinics are held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursdays and on select Saturdays throughout the school year.
