CALLS FOR ARTISTS

Wally Gordon Community Singers Rehearsals, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, starting Jan. 22, in the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church music room, 1310 Morgan Highway. The concert theme is Everyday Heroes in our Community. Membership is open to high school and adult singers. No auditions are required. Two concerts per season: early December and early May. PERFORMING ARTS

The Music Man, doors open 6 p.m., show begins at 7 p.m. Jan. 25, 26, 27 and Feb. 1, 2, 3, 10 at The Music Box Dinner Playhouse, 196 Hughes St., Swoyersville. There will be a special matinee “show only” production at 1 p.m. Feb. 9, in addition to the evening show. Directed by Michael Marone, and musically directed by Hollie Major Baker, the show boasts a cast of roughly 40 local performers, including Dane Bower as Professor Harold Hill and Alice Y. Lyons as Marian Paroo. Marone is assisted by Tyler Saar. Marikate Sullivan is the choreographer. Show tickets are $20. Buffet dinner and show tickets are $38. Wait Until Dark, 8 p.m. Jan. 31, Feb. 1, Feb. 2, Feb. 7, Feb. 8 and Feb. 9 and 2 p.m. Feb. 3 and Feb. 10 at Providence Playhouse, 1256 Providence Rd., Scranton. Tickets are $12 for general admission general, $10 for seniors senior and $8 for students. On Jan. 30, tickets are $8 general admission and seniors and $6 for students. Always In Stitches, 10 a.m. to noon each Tuesday at the Abington Community Library, 1200 W. Grove St., Clarks Summit. Stop and see what this bunch of quilters and sewers is up to. Get involved in one of their many charitable endeavors or learn something new.

Watercolor Painting Demonstration, 4 p.m. Jan. 24 at The Gathering Place, 304 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Artist Bill Teitsworth will present a watercolor demonstration.
