Northern Tier Symphony Spring Open Rehearsal, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 1 at the Tunkhannock Middle School Auditorium, 200 Franklin Ave., Tunkhannock. Strings welcome and all instruments invited.

A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder, 6 p.m. March 11 and 12 at The Music Box Playhouse. Register: http://bit.ly/2X8KGE6. All auditioning should prepare 16-32 measures of a classical musical theatre song in the style of the show. Please bring accompaniment tracks, as there will be no accompanist available during general auditions. No acapella auditions will be permitted. All those auditioning will be asked to do cold readings from the script. As the show takes place in Edwardian England, be prepared to read with an accent. Seeking performers who have strong comedic acting skills and vocal technique.

VISUAL ARTS

Abscapes Exhibit & Reception, 2 to 4 p.m. March 10 at the Dietrich Theater. A group exhibit combining colorful abstracts, landscapes, still life’s and more, as well as landscapes painted in abstract styles. Talented artists Vince Musto, Morgan Marie Scudder, Amy-Hoi Ngan Hsiao, and Sue Palakas work in their unique styles of painting to evoke thought and emotion in the viewer. Meet the artists and see their paintings at this exhibit reception. Admission is free.

Writers Group, 7 to 8:30 p.m. each Thursday at the Dietrich Theater. For ages 18 and up. Come and read your work or listen and be inspired. Learn the craft of writing as you write toward a goal of publication. All genres and levels of writing are welcome. Cost: free. Info: 570-249-2994.

After School Players Performance, 11 a.m. March 9 at the Dietrich Theater. All friends and family are invited to a special play performed by the Dietrich After School Players. By studying all aspects of producing a play, the middle and high school students will show what they have learned by performing for a live audience. All are invited to come and support young talent. Actors Circle presents The Clean House, 8 p.m. March 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30 and 2 p.m. March 24 and 31 at the Providence Playhouse, 1256 Providence Road, Scranton.
