Abington Art Studio exhibit at The Gathering Place — The work of Abington Art Studio students will be the focus of a gallery exhibit running through Sept. 10 at The Gathering Place, 304 S. State St., Clarks Summit. A gallery opening at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 16 will be followed by open gallery hours on Tuesday through Fridays from noon to 4 p.m. for the remainder of the exhibit. Actors Circle sets auditions for “Lombardi” by Eric Simonson based on the book “When Pride Still Mattered: A Life of Vince Lombardi” by Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Maraniss from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Providence Playhouse, 1256 Providence Road, Scranton. Needed are actors to fit the real-life personalities of Vince Lombardi, his wife, three of his team players of the Green Bay Packers, and a reporter. Bring a resume and conflict information for rehearsal times set between late August up to and including show dates: Oct. 24-Nov. 3. Needed are a man and woman 50ish (the Lombardis), four adults 20-30s, including an African American, to portray football players Jim Taylor (#31), Paul Hornung (#5), Dave Robinson (#89) and reporter Michael McCormick. Open Mic Night — Tom Rogo at the Dietrich Theater in downtown Tunkhannock Friday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. Doors open for sign ups at 6:30 p.m. Admission: Free. Sponsored by: The Dietrich Fundraising Committee. Open to audiences and performers of all ages. Musicians, poets, comedians and performers of all types are invited to share their talents on the Dietrich stage every fourth Friday. This month’s featured guest is musician Tom Rogo, a local musician from Factoryville, who is a veteran of the NEPA music circuit, performing for the last 35 years. He has played all over the U.S in various venues from bars, restaurants, resorts, colleges and cruise ships. He also teaches guitar at his business, Abington Music. Trains and Breakers Concert and Artist Reception at the Dietrich Theater in downtown Tunkhannock Sunday, Aug. 25 from 2 to 4 p.m. Featuring musician Jay Smar and artists Oren B. Helbok, Sue Hand and Kenny Ganz. Admission: Free. Photos of our railroad history by Oren B. Helbok, paintings by Sue Hand from her Coal Breaker Communities, Faded Memories Series, and digital images of trains by former Steamtown Historic Site photographer Kenny Ganz will fill the three galleries of the Dietrich Theater.
