FACTORYVILLE—A new cafe opened in downtown Factoryville, giving Keystone College students a place to dine within walking distance. Creekside Cafe had a ribbon-cutting ceremony, which was attended by the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce. Allison Schultz, engagement director, enjoyed the fact that it is close to Keystone College.
“I think Creekside opening a few blocks from Keystone College is great,” she said. “I think students would like the time to come here and study.”
Owner Tom Borthwick, who was a teacher of Riverside built this restaurant with his brothers with whom they have a real estate company. They chose and designed the colors and decor. There is also a deck in the back.
Creekside Cafe is open for breakfast and lunch. It has typical breakfast foods and bowls. The most popular lunch item is pulled pork. There are specials every week including buffalo chicken sandwiches, classic eggs benedicts, and avocado toast.
“It is wonderful to be in the service industry providing something valuable to the community,” said Tom.
There are also baked goods from Sarah Stanek, who has her own baking business. At the cafe, she sells pie bars, lemon squares and peanut butter brownies.
“I am very grateful and excited for the opportunity to bake for the Cafe,” she said. “It’s great for getting more exposure to my business and it feels great to be part of our small business community.”
