‘Touch a truck’ event comes to Lazybrook Park May 19

TUNKHANNOCK — When you were a kid would you have loved to see the insides of fire truck, a State Police car, an ambulance, or just any truck? Would you have loved to meet the drivers of those trucks and vehicles to ask them what they do? Or do you have a child or grandchild who would like to do so?

You and your young ones will have the chance to get acquainted with these trucks and vehicles from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 19 at Lazybrook Park on Route 6 just east of Tunkhannock. Everyone is welcome to this rain or shine event. The $5 per person fee helps support children’s programming at the Dietrich Theater. The first 100 children will receive a free fireman’s hat or a builder’s hat.

Touch a Truck at Lazybrook Park will feature at least 20 trucks and vehicles as diverse as a golf cart from Shadowbrook, a school bus from Brown’s, a gas truck from Ace-Robbins, a garbage truck from R. G. Brown Refuse Removal, and a ladder fire truck from Triton Hose, Meshoppen Fire, and others. Lazybrook Park is the perfect setting to stroll from one vehicle to the next, taking time out to visit the food trucks.

Food trucks will be on hand just in time for a snack or lunch. These favorites will be there: Ma Greenley’s BBQ, Taste Time to Love Us, Manning’s Ice Cream, Muncheez, Southwest Savory, and Murray’s Coffee Shack.

The very first Touch a Truck event in Tunkhannock is fun for the whole family. Organized by the Dietrich Theater fundraising committee, all proceeds will support free and low cost children’s programming such as preschool music and art classes, and many more. For information about the event, call 570-996-1500.
