Frear inducted into honor society

PHILADELPHIA — Samantha Frear, of Factoryville, was among the newest members from University of the Sciences inducted into the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy Alpha Tau Chapter of Rho Chi, the Academic Honor Society in Pharmacy. Frear is a doctor of pharmacy student.

Two named to dean’s list

MADISON, NJ — Margaret Sohns, of Tunkhannock, and Samantha Calderone, of South Abington Twp., were among students at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Florham Campus named to the dean’s and honors lists for the fall 2017 semester.

Rundell receives BS degree

EAST STROUDSBURG — Thomas Rundell, of South Abington Twp., received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania.

ANNVILLE — Nicole Martin, of Factoryville, presented scholarly or creative work at Lebanon Valley College’s annual

Inquiry symposium. A graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School, Martin is pursuing a bachelor of science in early childhood education and special education at The Valley.

Coldwater receives BS degree

ASHLAND, OH — Hollis Coldwater, of South Abington Twp., received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree during Ashland University’s commencement ceremonies May 5. Coldwater majored in Intervention Specialist Education.

Wetzel awarded for research project

CANTON, NY — Grace M. Wetzel, of Factoryville, has been awarded a St. Lawrence University Fellowship for a summer 2018 research project.

Wetzel, who attended Lackawanna Trail High School, is a member of the Class of 2019 and is majoring in psychology.

She received the Eric S. Smith ‘30 University Fellows Endowment and Daniel F. ‘65 and Ann H. Sullivan Endowment for Student/Faculty Research and will be mentored by Serge Onyper to conduct research titled “Racial Bias in the Judgment of Music.”

Jubon commissioned into Navy

Abington Heights graduate Thomas E. Jubon was commissioned as an Ensign in the US Navy May 11 after obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech. This fall, he will be begin professional schooling at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Charleston, South Carolina, and upon completion will serve as a junior officer aboard a fast-attack nuclear submarine.
