So far, we have nearly 900 people of all ages, from infants to adults, registered for SummerQuest here at the Abington Community Library. It has been a great summer so far, with much participation and support from our community. Families are reading and doing other activities together to fill out each level on their logs, earning prizes along the way. If you have not yet registered, there is still time. The last day to earn prizes is Aug. 31, so registration will continue through August.

This summer the library has facilitated some exciting programs, including Sushi 101 for teens, Daria World Music for families, and an American Girl program for elementary-age kids. There are still many more programs and classes to go, including Reptile and Zoo shows sponsored by the Friends of the Abington Community Library. Stop by today to check out all the events for adults, teens and kids, and register.

We are so grateful to Fidelity Bank, Honesdale National Bank, and Weis Markets for their sponsorship of the Jr. Battle of the Books and Battle of the Books through an EITC grant. This year, we have 69 students participating by reading and studying hard in preparation for the competition in August.

Over 100 people dropped by our first-ever Book Tasting on June 28, getting ideas for their summer book lists and both leaving and taking recommendations. It was a lovely day of sampling not only books, but also treats donated by Three Bakers.
