WAVERLY — To honor the sport of baseball, the Waverly Small Works Gallery at the Waverly Community House has prepared a special exhibit featuring the works of regional artist, William Chickillo. The exhibit, entitled “Baseball Dreams: They Played the Game,” is an homage in art, to the players who helped shape the game of baseball, including Factoryville native, Christy Mathewson and local baseball team, The Minooka Blues.

Chickillo was the 1973 recipient of the F. Lammot Belin Arts Scholarship and a MICA Graduate Fellowship in printmaking. He has taught painting and drawing at Marywood University, Penn State University and Keystone College. His work has been exhibited at the Pennsylvania State Museum, Allentown Museum, Roberson Museum, Everhart Museum, the National Baseball Hall of Fame Museum, The National Academy of Design in New York and numerous group and solo shows throughout the country.

The opening reception for this special exhibit is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14 in the Waverly Small Works Gallery located in the South Wing of the Waverly Community House. Light refreshments will be served. The exhibit will run through the World Series.

The Waverly Small Works Gallery is a project of the F. Lammot Belin Arts Foundation, whose mission it is to provide a place for artists to show their works, to promote art appreciation in the community and to encourage and hearten the human spirit through visual arts. The Waverly Community is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and is located at 1115 North Abington Road in Waverly
