CLARKS SUMMIT — The Arcadia Chorale will open the 2018-2019 Arts at First Presbyterian concert season at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 with a program of “Love Songs” at the church, 300 School St. The concert is open to the public, free of charge, but a free-will offering will be taken to help defray the cost of the event.

The program is an exploration of the rich tradition of songs about love: the pursuit of love, the joy of love found, and the heartbreak of love lost. The works on the concert range from Renaissance madrigals by Thomas Morley and Jacques Arcadelt to contemporary pieces by Eric Whitacre, Cecilia McDowall and Joseph Gregorio. Also on the program are works by Morten Lauridsen, Maurice Ravel, Jean Belmont, Stephen Paulus, and Rodgers and Hart.

Music director of the Chorale is Dr. Steven Thomas, chair of the Division of Performing Arts, Director of Choral Activities and Professor of Music at Wilkes University.

For more information, call the church at 570-586-6306 or visit www.fpccs.org.
