SCRANTON — Members of the Downtown Scranton Business District embraced the spirit of the season — and the spirit of competition — as part of Scranton Tomorrow’s Holiday Window Decorating Showcase. More than 50 businesses decorated their windows to capture the essence of an Electric City holiday, and compete for the title of best design in 15 categories. Winners were recently announced at Scranton Tomorrow’s Holiday Open House. Honorees include:

* Most Childlike Wonder: People’s Security Bank

* Most Elegant: Posh @ The Scranton Club

* Most Festive: Lavish Body & Home

* Most Luminous: 8 Count Dancewear

* Most Innovative: Northern Light Espresso Bar

* Most Non-Traditional: Ballet Theatre of Scranton

* Most Original: Terra Preta Prime

* Most Outrageous: New Laundry

* Best Painted Windows: Scranton School District Art Students and Frank Dubas, 516-518 Lackawanna Avenue

* Best Use of Greenery: Peculiar Slurp

* Most Spirit of Christmas: AOS Metals

* Most Traditional: The Velvet Elvis

* Most Whimsical: The Pink Pedal

* Best Winter Scene: Ufberg & Associates

* Most Rustic: The Daisy Collective

Holiday-themed windows will remain on display in downtown Scranton through Friday, Jan. 4, 2019. The program is designed to encourage people of all ages to shop and dine in historic downtown Scranton during the holiday season. A map with participating businesses is available for download at www.scrantontomorrow.org and on Scranton Tomorrow’s Facebook page.

Promotions such as the Holiday Window Decorating Showcase in the Downtown Scranton Business District are made possible with support from community-minded business owners.
