Med students learn residency matches

SCRANTON — Brendan Bormes, of Clarks Summit, and Megan Lombardi, of Dallton, both students at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, have received their residency matches.

Bormes matched at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital-DC for Anesthesiology and Lombardi matched at University of North Carolina Hospitals for General Surgery.

Bowman performs with band

WILKES-BARRE — Hunter Bowman, of Tunkhannock, was chosen to play with the Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Band with other student musicians from 27 other schools across the state. They performed under the baton of Major Michelle Rakers, former assistant conductor of the U.S. Marine Band. Bowman plays the string bass.

Locals named to Sem Honor Roll

FORTY FORT – Dr. Kathleen Hanlon, Dean of Wyoming Seminary Lower School, has announced the greater Abingtons area students named to the Academic High Honor Roll and Academic Honor Roll for the second trimester of the 2018-2019 academic year.

High Honor Roll: Kylie Romanchick, Tunkhannock, grade 6; Cameron Taylor, Waverly, grade 7; Marai Castellanos, Waverly, grade 8.

Honor Roll: Aiden Jordan, Factoryville grade 7.
