Sohns named to Honors List
MADISON, NJ — Margaret Sohns, of Tunkhannock, a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Florham Campus, located in Madison, NJ, has been named to the Honors List for the fall 2018 semester.
To qualify for the Honors List, a student must carry a 3.5 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).
Leader enrolls at Del Val
DOYLESTOWN — Delaware Valley University announce that Joella Leader, of Scott Township, has enrolled as a new student for fall 2019. Leader has been selected for an academic merit scholarship.
Smith named to dean’s list
PHILADELPHIA — Zach Smith, a 2017 graduate of Abington Heights High School, has been named to the dean’s list at Drexel University for the fall 2018 semester.
Smith is an Environmental Science major with a concentration in Ecology & Conservation and a member of the Pennoni Honors College. He is an event coordinator for Drexel’s division of Defend Our Future, a project of the Environmental Defense Fund and recently spoke at the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington against proposed rollbacks to the Mercury and Air Toxic Standards provisions.
Smith is also an undergraduate researcher working with Drexel University’s Office of Undergraduate Research, Students Tackling Advanced Research program. The 10-week program included four weeks in Cienfuegos, Cuba with three other student researchers and professors collecting data on the community structure of bees at the University of Cienfuegos.
Locals honored at LCCC
NANTICOKE — Luzerne County Community College announces the following Abington-area students have earned recognition for outstanding academic achievement during the fall 2018 semester.
To qualify for the President’s List, a student must earn a 4.0 cumulative grade point average. Students who attain a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.99 are included on the Dean’s List, and those with an average between 3.25 and 3.49 are included on the Honors List.
