TUNKHANNOCK — The Dietrich Theater and Keystone Community Resource’s ArtWorks invite everyone to a Meet the Artists reception to honor Bob Lizza, mural artist, and the ArtWorks artists of Keystone Community Resources at the Dietrich Theater in Tunkhannock on Sunday, Dec. 15 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Come see Bob Lizza’s photographic exhibit that shows the entire process of the creation of the first of three mural panels on the outside walls of the Dietrich, from start to finish. Also on display are the paintings, pastels, sculptures, whimsical creations, and painted furniture pieces created by the Artworks artists of Keystone Community Resources. The reception is free to the public.

“When the Dietrich expansion was complete in 2009, two new blank walls on Bridge Street and the back of the theater, seemed to be perfect canvasses for murals,” remembers Erica Rogler, executive director. Seven years later, with funding from the Wyoming County Room Tax Fund, the Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau, and the Endless Mountains Heritage Region & PA DCNR and the artistry of Bob Lizza, the first mural of the Tunkhannock Viaduct in Nicholson has been installed.

When asked to work on the Dietrich mural project, Lizza researched the most up-to-date way to install murals. The entire story of the creation and installation of the first mural has been captured with Natalie Lizza Rail’s photographs.

The Artworks exhibit celebrates the mission of the ArtWorks Gallery and Studio in Tunkhannock, supported by Keystone Community Resources. Its mission is to celebrate the artist in each of us and to immerse people with disabilities into the larger arts community. With art instruction by Steve Colley, Dietrich Theater artist-in-residence, this mission is being realized.

This mural by Bob Lizza can be seen at the Dietrich Theater in Tunkhannock.
