Dalton Library Delights: March at the Dalton Community Library

As many say, March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. That certainly proves true so far this year. With the changes of each day, the Dalton Community Library is here for everyone with many activities, good reads and a variety of movies to keep us rolling with the changes.

First, I’d like to thank all families who participated in the children’s Winter Reading Club, “Catch a Dragon by the Tale.” The encouragement given by parents and the time they spent reading helped make this program enjoyable. Reading books was a great way to spend some of the cold February days and nights we had.

The book chosen for this month for our Saturday Spotlight adult book club is “Killers of the Flower Moon” by David Grann. Anyone wanting to participate can read the selection and join the group at at 10:30 a.m. March 24 at the Dalton Community Library.

During the month of February, I’ve witnessed many newcomers to our adult groups. I’m happy to see these newcomers return weekly after liking their initial visit. The members of our groups are very inviting and always willing to help someone unsure of whatever game is being played. I’ve also had patrons ask for information about our groups and plan on starting in March.

If you would like information or would like to visit during a certain group, call 570-563-2014 or email JFamiletti@albright.org to ask questions. If anyone would like to leave an email address or their phone number to speak to someone in our groups, that can easily be arranged.

It’s been a pleasure meeting many new people who now feel at home in our library.

Although it’s hard for us to believe, the Book and Bake Sale is right around the corner and is set for Saturday, April 21. At this time, our biggest concern is making sure everyone with book donations gets them to us. We will accept donations at the library any time during March The last week of this month, March 25-31, is the last week we can accept them. Our organizers work very hard to make sure all books are in the right areas, so bringing your donations in by the last day of March will give organizers enough time to do so.

After this sale, we will accept donations for the fall book sale any time on or after May 1.

Throughout March, our children’s groups will be held on their regular days and times: Story Time is at 11 a.m. Tuesdays, and Kid’s Crew is also on Tuesdays, after school at 4 p.m. Stay tuned for a special children’s program coming to the Dalton Community Library during the spring.
