April showers bring…plenty of time to curl up with a good book in your favorite reading chair! Here are some recommended rainy day reads for teens from the Abington Community Library:

“The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay” by Michael Chabon

A young escape artist and budding magician named Joe Kavalier arrives on the doorstep of his cousin, Sammy Clay. From the shared fears, dreams, and desires of two teenage boys, they spin comic book tales of the heroic, fascist-fighting Escapist and the beautiful, mysterious Luna Moth, otherworldly mistress of the night. Climbing from the streets of Brooklyn to the top of the Empire State Building, Joe and Sammy carve out lives, and careers, as vivid as cyan and magenta ink.

“The Escapists” by Brian K. Vaughan

When Matt Roth’s father dies, he spends his entire inheritance buying the Escapist’s trademark rights. Hoping to introduce the Escapist to a new generation of comics fans, he assembles a team of artists. Though, after a publicity stunt featuring the hero goes wrong, the fiasco threatens to ground the entire project.

“The Sun and Her Flowers” by Rupi Kaur

Divided into five chapters and illustrated by Kaur, the sun and her flowers is a journey of wilting, falling, rooting, rising and blooming. A celebration of love in all its forms.

“Behind the Song” edited by K.M. Walton

An anthology of stories and personal essays exploring how music inspires creativity and can change one’s life, written by award-winning young adult authors and contemporary musicians.

“Batman: Nightwalker” by Marie Lu

The Nightwalkers are terrorizing Gotham City, and Bruce Wayne is next on their list. Bruce will walk the dark line between trust and betrayal as the Nightwalkers circle closer.
