At least 75 art lovers and supporters wended their way through the Dietrich Theater’s three art galleries to browse the artwork of 19 members of the Kitson Arts Alliance and Artworks of Keystone Community Resources (KCR). The joyous start to the afternoon was the dance recital by six KCR students of Judy Weist of Stage Door Dance. The students chose the music, including their favorites “YMCA” and “Purple Rain.” Family and friends were invited to join in, which they did, making this event enjoyed by all.

The dance recital was followed by a chance to see the KCR art exhibit through April in the New Gallery entitled Synergetic Energy, including paintings, drawings, and pottery and sculpture. Keystone Community Resources has a rich service history with 50 years of experience serving the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their community.

Keystone Community Resources is one of more than 50 members of the Kitson Arts Alliance. The works of 19 other members of the Alliance are exhibited in the Earnshaw Gallery and Sherwood Gallery through May 24. The Kitson Member Show reception was a chance to meet internationally known glass artist Christopher Ries who was there to showcase his revolving sculpture and meet his many admirers. Many of the other artists were also in attendance to witness the excitement of knowing so many people support the arts. The Dietrich Theater is pleased to collaborate with the Kitson Arts Alliance to support the rich arts community in NEPA. We truly believe that the arts are for everyone.

Thank you, George Stonier and Kathy Reap for returning for another presentation about Parkinson’s and the Power of Exercise. George talked about what Rock Steady Boxing has done for him and Kathy presented current research about the program. Kathy then demonstrated some of the moves that benefit those with Parkinson’s, asking for audience participation. The very good news is that Kathy will bring her classes to Tunkhannock – to the Cloverknoll Health Spa in the next couple of months.

New flash! The Madison String Quartet Mother’s Day Concert, sponsored by a friend of the Dietrich, is coming up on Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 12 at 3 p.m. – a concert for the whole family, with a suggested donation of $10. Children are admitted free. This will be the third year in a row this energetic and inventive group will perform at the Dietrich on Mother’s Day, this year beginning with a musical journey for the young and the young at heart for the first half of the program. The second half of the concert will feature a more traditional format, including music of Bedrich Smetana and Arturo Marquez. A light reception will follow the concert. To make reservations, call 570-996-1500. Tickets will be available at the door as long as they last.

So much to learn and celebrate at the Dietrich! We are so happy to welcome you or see you again. Will we see you soon? We hope so. We do it all for you.
