Abington Heights provided a hint that its girls track and field dynasty is not likely to end any time soon when it won the Class 3A girls team championship May 9 in the Phil Tochelli Lackawanna Track Conference Junior High Meet at Western Wayne.

On the varsity level, Abington Heights has had 15 straight unbeaten LTC girls seasons.

The Comets outscored Wallenpaupack, 90-74, for the team title.

Anna Pucilowski led the way with three record-breaking performances – two individually and one as a relay team anchor. All three efforts broke records established by other Abington Heights runners.

Pucilowski won the 800-meter run in 2:32.21, breaking the mark set by Allison Dammer at 2:32.65 in 2018. She won the 3200 in 5:20.82, shattering Maia Arcangelo’s record of 5:29.86 in 2019. Marley Gilboy, Hawley Lynott and Caroline Sabatini were the other members of the 3200 relay team that took 4.99 seconds off the 2018 record to finish in 10:27.61.

Sabatini also won the 400 in 1:03.95 and anchored the winning 1600 relay.

Lily Scoblick, Alison Lynett and Katelynn Knight were the other members of the 1600 relay.

That was part of a big day for Scoblick. She won the triple jump with 29-6 ½, posted a 300 hurdles time of 50.57 that was better than the 10-year-old meet record but came in second to Scranton’s Elizabeth Mitchell and also finished fourth in the 100 hurdles.

Taryn Dymek won the long jump.

Lynott, in the 1600, and Dennis, in the high jump, had the other second-place finishes.

Zach Magnotta was fourth in the 200 and was part of the third-place 400 relay that was the highest finish for the Comets.

Lukas Ruane led off the relay team and was sixth in the triple jump. Kyle Degnon and Clark Defendorf were also part of the third-place relay.
