Gigi Sabatini won the 400-meter dash and anchored a pair of relay team victories June 13 on her home track while helping the County girls defeat the City, 77-71, when Abington Heights hosted the first Lackawanna Track and Field Coaches Association Senior all-star meet.

Abington Heights athletes contributed to a sweep by County teams, which won the boys meet, 87-62.

Sabatini ran the 400 in 1:01.56 to win by more than three seconds. She also anchored the 1600 and 3200 relays as the County swept all three relays to pull out a close meet.

Ellie Smith finished second in the 100 and third in the 200, along with running a leg of the 400 relay.

Christian Lezinski took second place in the shot put in the boys meet.

Chris Clauss placed third in the 400 and was part of wins in both the 1600 and 3200 relays.

Anastasia Ioppolo from Wallenpaupack won the long jump, triple jump and both hurdles races, the same four events she won in the District 2 Class 3A Championships, while earning Girls Most Valuable Performer honors while leading the City.

Paige Olanovich from Riverside and the County was Track Performer of the Meet while Avery McNulty from Scranton Prep and the City was Field Performer of the Meet for the girls.

The boys honors went to: Honesdale’s Andrew Tucker from the County as Most Valuable; West Scranton’s Justin Gockley from the City as Top Track Performer; and Mid Valley’s Josh Angelo from the County as Top Field Performer.

The County was made up of athletes from Abington Heights, Blue Ridge, Carbondale, Delaware Valley, Honesdale, Lakeland, Mid Valley, Valley View and Western Wayne. The City roster featured athletes from Lackawanna Trail, Dunmore, Elk Lake, Holy Cross, Montrose, Scranton, Susquehanna, Scranton Prep, Wallenpaupack and West Scranton.
