Lackawanna Trail was less than 10 seconds away from going to Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza for the District 2 Class 2A girls basketball championship game when Old Forge hit its fifth 3-pointer of the fourth quarter.
Leah Domiano hit from long range with seven seconds remaining Feb. 24 to lift the Lady Devils over the host Lady Lions, 49-47.
The winning basket was Domiano’s third 3-pointer and Old Forge’s ninth of the game.
The shots from long range allowed Old Forge to overcome an 11-point halftime lead by Lackawanna Trail and 28 points from Mackenzie Schirg.
With the loss, Lackawanna Trail finished 11-11 overall.

Lackawanna Trail finished 7-5 to place fourth of seven teams in Lackawanna League Division 4.
The Lady Lions were one of just two Class 2A teams with winning overall records in the regular season while landing the second seed in the six-team District 2 tournament.
Lackawanna Trail went 2-4 in February, losing to each of the three teams it finished behind in Division 4, then Old Forge in the season finale.
The wins during the month were 55-42 over Carbondale in non-league play and 43-38 over Susquehanna in the regular-season finale.
Carbondale led, 26-25, at halftime before Gretchen Rejrat scored 16 of her20 points to lead the Lackawanna Trail victory. Schirg scored 16 points and Reagan Norman added 10.
Schirg had 19 points and Rejrat 11 in the victory over Susquehanna. Schirg went 3-for-4 from the line in the fourth quarter while Rejrat and Nadine Toth were each 2-for-2 to protect the lead.
