A strong start by the Abington Heights boys lacrosse team lost momentum when the Comets dropped their final four games of April.

Abington Heights entered May with a 5-6 record in the Wyoming Valley Conference and a 5-7 overall mark.

Freshman Gavin Anders leads the team in goals (29) and assists (11).

Austin Boersma, Evan Davis and Colin Price are also in double figures in both. Boersma has 18 goals and 11 assists; Davis 13 goals and 11 assists; and Price 11 goals and 10 assists.

Goalie Wyatt Carper has moved over 250 saves for his career.

The Comets have a chance to finish .500 in the WVC and are close to pinning down a berth in the District 2 Class 2A playoffs.

Among the possible opponents is rival Scranton Prep, which swept Abington Heights 14-6 April 21 and 13-4 April 28. Scranton Prep entered May second in the ratings race for seeds while Abington Heights was sixth. If the teams end up second and seventh or in third and sixth, they would meet in a quarterfinal at Scranton Prep.
