Keystone College has turned to Andrew Kettel as its next men’s basketball coach, the school announced April 28.
Kettel moves to the college ranks after 16 seasons as a high school head coach.
After spending six seasons at Lackawanna Trail, Kettel coached Scranton Prep for the last 10, winning eight District 2 championships, including Class 4A this season, and three Lackawanna League Division 1 titles.
Kettel coached the Cavaliers to a 202-56 record and had a mark of 279-127, including his time at Lackawanna Trail.
“My family and I are very excited about the opportunity to join Keystone College,” Kettel said, according to a story posted on the college’s athletic website. “I would like to thank president Mr. John Pullo, vice president Mr. Stu Renda and athletic director Mr. Scott Gower for putting their trust in me to lead the men’s basketball program.”
In addition to his impressive winning percentage and championships, Kettel has found success off the court, bringing national acclaim to northeast Pennsylvania for the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative he launched and guided, helping to raise more than $3 million for the American Cancer Society.
Keystone is coming off its first Colonial States Athletic Conference championship game appearance in a decade. Brad Cooper resigned following the season in which the Giants went 8-6 in the CSAC and 14-14 overall with three players earning all-CSAC honors.
