Lackawanna Trail’s Sophia Kaczmierczak placed in multiple events in consecutive Friday track and field invitationals.

Kaczmierczak led the Lady Lions to 12th out of 22 teams April 21 in the Walter Godek Twilight Invitational at North Pocono and 14th out of 24 teams April 28 in the Lasagna Invitational at North Pocono

At North Pocono, Kaczmierczak was in the 300-meter hurdles and sixth in the 100 hurdles.

Ella Axtell added a fourth-place finish in the shot put.

Kazmierczak was second in the 100 hurdles, fourth in the 300 hurdles and fourth in the triple jump at Wyalusing Valley.

Axtell again was fourth in the shot put.

Lackawanna Trail took a 2-2 record into the final Lackawanna Track Conference Division 4 meet.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

The Lions were 1-3 with one meet remaining in LTC Division 4.

BASEBALL

Lackawanna Trail used a four-game winning streak at the end of April to reach 5-5 overall and improve to 5-3 in Lackawanna League Division 3.

The Lions suffered all five losses by at least nine runs, but showed an ability to pull out close victories during their winning streak.

Lackawanna Trail started the streak with a 9-8 victory over Montrose, then beat Mountain View, 6-5, in nine innings.

Mountain View scored three times in the top of the seventh to force extra innings, but Lackawanna Trail pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

Isaac Ryon, Beau Ware and Gavin June overcame 12 walks by combining for 12 strikeouts and allowing just one earned run on two hits against Mountain View.

Ware also was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Max Kimmel scored three runs in the win.

The Lions kept winning with a 7-3 victory over Susquehanna, then avenged an early, 11-1 loss to beat Carbondale, 7-5, and catch the Chargers in a third-place tie in the eight-team division.

SOFTBALL

High-scoring games have been the norm for Lackawanna Trail while going 3-5 in Lackawanna Division 4 and 3-6 overall.

The Lady Lions were 0-5 before scoring 52 runs while winning three times in their last four games of April.

Lackawanna Trail is allowing 15.5 runs per game, giving up at least nine in all but one game.

Gretchen Rejrat went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and three driven in during a 12-10 win over Carbondale in the most recent game April 26.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Lackawanna Trail is playing an independent schedule this season and is 0-8.

The Lions were swept in three sets in every match.
