Abington Heights pulled off a late-season upset, but the Comets were victims of another to begin the postseason.
The Comets were knocked out in the District 2-4 Class 5A Subregional baseball playoffs in the quarterfinals after handing Lackawanna League Division 1 and District 2 Class 5A champion North Pocono its only loss within the district this season.

Abington Heights fought off the 10-run rule in the bottom of the fifth inning, but by then the Comets were in too deep a hole to escape the upset in the May 22 subregional quarterfinal.
The sixth-seeded Buckhorns, who finished the season 10-12, took control by scoring eight runs on just three hits in a sloppy fourth inning that led to the third-seeded Comets ending the season at 12-7.
Eli Peifer held Abington Heights to four hits in five innings while helping Wallenpaupack post its second win in three meetings this season.
Jordan Santiago and Peyton Toth each had two hits and two runs to lead the Buckhorns. Santiago stole a base, delivered a sacrifice fly and scored three times.
The Buckhorns had at least two hits in each of the first four innings. They also had eight batters reach base on either walks or hit batters.
Abington Heights 8, North Pocono 2
Nick Bradley went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored as Abington Heights won the regular-season finale May 17.
Mark Nazar and Conner Griffin each had two hits and scored twice.
Charlie Hamm, who struck out nine in five innings, and Zach Brister combined on a three-hitter.

Griffin ended the season on a seven-game hitting streak.
The Binghamton University commit led the Comets in batting average (.407), on-base percentage (.529) and slugging percentage (.574).
Nazar batted .393 and tied Griffin for the team lead with 17 RBIs.
The Comets were one of just two teams to have winning records in the eight-team Division 1 of the Lackawanna. Abington Heights was 10-4, three games behind North Pocono and three games in front of third place Scranton Prep.
Mountain View 7, Lackawanna Trail 0
Carter Bain threw a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead the way as host Mountain View ended Lackawanna Trail’s season in the May 18 District 2 Class 2A quarterfinals.

The Lions were 7-7 and finished fifth out of eight teams in Lackawanna Division 3.
Lackawanna Trail, which went into district play as the fifth seed in a seven-team tournament, finished 7-10.
Dallas 3, Scranton Prep 2
Before they posted routs in the District 2 Class 4A championship game and the first round of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state tournament, the Mountaineers had to fight their way past Scranton Prep in the district semifinals.
The game was the second straight one-run decision in the district tournament for Scranton Prep, which topped Hanover Area, 8-7, in the quarterfinals.

The Cavaliers went 7-7 to place third of eight teams in Division 1.
They went 11-10 overall, winning nine straight after starting the season 1-6.
Brian Walsh threw back-to-back shutouts against Valley View and Wyoming Valley West while going 5-1 with a 1.17 earned run average, losing only a one-run game to North Pocono.
Walsh struck out 66 in 48 innings. He also finished the season on a 13-game hitting streak to raise his batting average to .403.
