Abington Heights had four players selected to the County team when rosters for the 89th annual Scranton Lions Club Dream Game were announced in May.
The Dream Game, presented by Northeast Rehab, is an all-star game for recent graduates of the Lackawanna Football Conference. It is scheduled for July 19 at Valley View’s John Henzes/Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Wide receiver/defensive backs Jack Burke and Christian Henzes are scheduled to represent the Comets along with kicker/punter Michael Hartshorn and offensive lineman/linebacker Connor Casey.
Burke was the team leader in receiving yards with 674 on 39 catches with three touchdowns. He led the defense in sacks with 5½ while ranking second in tackles for loss with eight and also intercepting two passes.
Henzes carried 53 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns while catching 10 passes for 85 yards. He was fifth on the team in total tackles with 34 tackles and 36 assists while also forcing 2 fumbles and recovering 2.
Hartshorn recently announced a change in his plans to play National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I football, switching to the Big Ten to play for Rutgers. He averaged 36.2 yards per punt last season while placing seven inside the 20 and also had four kickoffs for touchbacks. Hartshorn was 20-for-22 on extra points and 2-for-7 on field goals.
Casey was fourth on the team in tackles and third in tackles for losses. He had 43 tackles, 6 for losses, and 33 assists.
Scranton Prep has four players and Lackawanna Trail two on the City roster.
Tight end/linebacker Aidan Colleran, quarterback/defensive back Sean Monahan, two-way lineman Anthony Nicotera and Keith Pritchyk and fullback/linebacker Mick O’Malley are the Scranton Prep players.
Two-way lineman Jacob Breckinridge and wide receiver/defensive back Evan Litwin are the Lackawanna Trail players.
Abington Heights players are on the County team that also includes players from Carbondale, Delaware Valley, Honesdale, Lakeland, Mid Valley, Old Forge, Riverside, Valley View and Western Wayne. It will be coached by Mid Valley’s Stan Yanoski.
The City, coached by North Pocono’s Greg Dolhon, is made up of players from Dunmore, Holy Cross, Montrose, Scranton, Susquehanna, Wallenpaupack and West Scranton, along with Scranton Prep, Lackawanna Trail and North Pocono.
