District 1 runner-up Bayard Rustin ended Scranton Prep’s championship season by defeating the Cavaliers 11-6 June 5 in a first-round Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class 2A boys lacrosse state tournament game.
Rustin, from West Chester, opened leads of 3-1 after one quarter and 7-4 at halftime.
Liam Barrett led Scranton Prep with two goals and an assist.
Will McPartland, Quinn Lynett, Brady Holmes and Chris Ramey scored the other goals. Mackey Lynett had an assist.
Aiden Jordan made 15 saves in the loss.
The Cavaliers won the first Wyoming Valley Conference and District 2 Class 2A titles in program history this season.
Rustin won one more game before being eliminated in the state semifinals.
