Abington Heights repeated its Lackawanna League Division 1 girls soccer title, but could not do the same in District 2 Class 3A, leaving the Comets short of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Tournament where they advanced all the way to the final a year ago.

Both Abington Heights and Valley View went 11-1 in Lackawanna Division 1, forcing a playoff to decide the division title.

Lilia Calvert scored the game’s only goal Oct. 21 when Abington Heights claimed the title with a 1-0 victory.

Earlier in the season, Calvert, a Rutgers University-commit, became the all-time leading scorer in Abington Heights girls soccer. She is a junior.

The division title was the team’s fourth straight.

District 2 Class 3A

Calvert scored four times when Abington Heights opened the district tournament with a 6-0 shutout of Wallenpaupack.

Crestwood then eliminated the Comets with a 2-1 victory in the semifinals.

District 2 Class 2A

Fifth-seeded Scranton Prep posted two straight road shutouts to get to the district championship game where it lost to Lake-Lehman 2-1 Nov. 1.

The Classics defeated Mid Valley 2-0, then ripped top-seeded Wyoming Area 5-0.

Jenna Hillebrand and Cecelia Haggerty scored two goals each against Wyoming Area, which had won 12 of its previous 13 games.
