Lackawanna Trail reached the semifinals and finished third in the Northeast Region Interscholastic Unified Bocce League Championship.
Abington Heights Team-2 also went 2-1, but with its loss coming earlier in the tournament, settled for fifth place.
Both teams posted winning records in Division 1 of the Northeast Region UCS Bocce League to make the eight-team playoff field from the 12-school, 17-team league. Abington Heights is one of five schools with two teams entered in the league.
Lackawanna Trail defeated North Pocono Team-2 by an 8-6 score in the quarterfinals, lost to eventual champion Wallenpaupack Team-2 by a 7-3 score, then beat Mid Valley 7-4 for third place.
Bianca Guzzon, Olivia Fassett, James Rasimovich, Katlyn Cook, Tina Sanko, Gavan Singletary and Connor Gurcken made up the Lackawanna Trail team. Ashlinn Simpson is the coach.
Abington Heights also suffered its only loss to the champions when Wallenpaupack rallied in the fourth and fifth frames, then broke a tie in the sixth and final frame for a 7-5 victory.
The Comets then beat North Pocono 7-6 and Carbondale Team-1 by a 7-2 score in the consolation final.
The Abington Heights team features Sophia Santarsiero, Ella Tourscher, Rosey Holmes, Luthor Trask, Olive O’Rourke, Michael Shuey, Griffin Turock, Maeve Piasecki and Brandon Gardner. The Comets are coached by Debbie Musgrave.
