Nick Bradley is back at quarterback after throwing for more than 2,000 yards as Abington Heights captured the District 2 Class 5A title and won eight football games in 2024.

The Comets, however, will have to replace much of the offense that surrounded Bradley in the championship season. Abington Heights will try to duplicate some of that offensive success while replacing its entire offensive line and District 2’s top receiver combination in Shane Brower and Shawn Theodore.

“Our goal is to be able to be as balanced as possible, week in and week out,” Comets coach Joe Repshis said. “Nick is a very talented quarterback who can make every throw on the field; he’s a veteran leader for us who is very poised; he’s able to extend plays with his feet; and he’s also a threat to run.

“With the group of skill players we have, over time, we have to be effective in throwing the football. There are a lot of components we have to have in place to do that effectively. Being able to run helps us being able to throw just as being able to throw helps your running game.”

Bradley passed for 26 touchdowns with just two interceptions last season.

The Comets return just three starters on offense with fullback Thatcher Loss and tight end Cayd Sepsico joining Bradley.

Shane Anders, who is also back, was generally the third receiver in multiple-receiver sets and was third on the team in receiving a year ago.

The Comets do return three of their top four rushers.

Bradley and Loss were second and third on the team, followed by Jayden Anglin, a junior who is the most experienced of the other running backs.

Senior Anthony Severs also has some experience at the position.

Noah Kayal has spent some time at quarterback. Along with backing up Bradley, he will likely see time at running back or receiver.

Max Gordon played some at fullback and tight end last season and can fill those positions or possibly play guard.

Anders leads a receiving corps that also includes Rocco Sarafinko, Kayal, Rodman Azar, Evan Keiper, Michael Arcure and Domnick Pasqualichio.

Sespico is back at tight end where Ben Reese or Gordon could also see time.

The entire interior offensive line graduated.

Seniors Logan Bohn, Brendan Dougherty and Jocsan Muentes are seniors with some experience in the line. Bohn and Dougherty are tackles while Muentes is a guard and center.

Juniors Chris O’Boyle, Nate Jury and Gordon are among the other top candidates. O’Boyle and Jury can play guard or center.

Sespico, an all-star end, is back in the four-man defensive front.

Reese is another end. Bohn can play end or tackle.

Dougherty, Muentes, Jury and Chris O’Boyle are tackles.

Loss, Gordon and Anglin are linebackers in the 4-2-5 alignment.

Anders, another defensive all-star, returns at strong safety. The team’s second-leading tackler last season is part of a veteran secondary group that includes Kayal and Sarafinko returning at cornerback.

Keiper and Arcure are also in the mix at cornerback, Azar and Pasqualichio are working at free safety and Anthony Severs is another option at strong safety.
