Abington Heights was barely threatened in its seventh straight perfect season in Lackawanna League girls cross country.
The Lady Comets are 154-0 in the last seven years in which they competed in the league.
After going 19-0 in 2018 and 22-0 in 2019, Abington Heights did not take part in league competition during 2020, the season most impacted by COVID.
Abington Heights went 23-0 for four straight seasons and completed a 21-0 run through the league this season.
Fellow District 2 champions Elk Lake and Valley View provided the closest competition. Abington Heights defeated the Lady Warriors 23-36 and the Cougars 21-40.
The Lady Comets beat nine opponents by the maximum 15-50 score, meaning they had seven runners finish ahead of the opponent’s best. They had three other scores of 15, which means they had the first five finishers against a dozen of their 21 league opponents.
Scranton Prep finished 13-8 and Lackawanna Trail went 1-19 in league meets.
Abington Heights was 18-4 in Lackawanna boys cross country – losing to the three District 2 champion and state Class A runner-up Riverside.
Scranton Prep went 17-5 and Lackawanna Trail was 11-11.
