Anna Pucilowski and Derek Williams were the Abington Heights representatives at the Ann Marie Simons Scholar-Athlete Breakfast on April 29 at Montdale Country Club.

The Lackawanna Interscholastic Athletic Association honored one female and one male student-athlete from each member school for their combination of excellence in both academics and sports.

Pucilowski and Williams, all-state performers headed to NCAA Division I programs, were the Abington Heights selections.

During her career at Abington Heights, Pucilowski has been a leader of successful cross-country and track-and-field teams all four years, winning multiple individual and team titles. She served as captain of each team twice.

Pucilowski is also vice president of the Student Senate, a member of the National Honor Society, the Medical Club, Girls on the Run, Mini-Thon, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and a dancer and volunteer for the Devine School of Dance. She is also a member of the Ski Club and a competitive ski racer.

Pucilowski is headed to James Madison University for both cross country and track and plans to be a kinesiology and health sciences major on a pre-med track in hopes of attending medical school.

Williams earned 10 varsity letters in soccer, swimming and track and field. He was captain of the swimming team as both a junior and a senior.

In addition to his athletics, Williams is vice president of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America recorder, captain of the Scholastic Bowl team and a member of the band. He participated in several academic competitions and reached the level of Eagle Scout in Scouting America.

Williams plans to continue his swimming career while studying mechanical engineering at Lafayette College.
