The Wyoming Valley Conference boys lacrosse championship ultimately came down to a late-season meeting between Scranton Prep and Abington Heights.
The Cavaliers and Comets put together a matchup worthy of a title game.
Unbeaten Scranton Prep rallied on the road to defeat Abington Heights 14-13 in the April 24 game.
Abington Heights scored six second-quarter goals to take an 11-7 halftime lead and was still in front before Scranton Prep scored three of the game’s four fourth-quarter goals.
Braedon McPartland led the Cavaliers to victory with five goals and three assists.
Jack Rully and Mackey Lynett added three goals each.
Christopher Bohn, who also had two assists, and Rodman Azar scored four times each for Abington Heights.
Gavin Anders added two goals and two assists.
Scranton Prep finished 10-0 in the WVC.
Abington Heights was 8-1 in the conference and 13-3 overall heading into its regular-season finale May 5 against Dallas.
The teams also rank 1-2 in the race for seeding in the District 2 Class 2A tournament.
Following its loss to Scranton Prep, Abington Heights closed out April by beating Wyoming Seminary 14-8, Wilkes-Barre Area 23-2 and non-league opponent Danville 20-6.
Bohn, a sophomore, leads the team in both goals and assists, combining for more than five per game.
Azar, Gavin Lindsay and Anders all join him in producing at least two goals per game.
