Tessa Barrett was the first female finisher on May 3 in the 47th annual Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run.
The 10-mile road race drew a field of more than 40,000 runners through the streets of Philadelphia.
Barrett, the former state champion and Gatorade National Runner of the Year in cross country while at Abington Heights, completed the course in 52:24, more than 72 seconds ahead of the next-highest female finisher.
The 30-year-old now lives in Arlington, Va. She has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials as a marathon runner.
